Research in this specialisation is on risk assessment in occupational and environmental health, in accidents and disasters and in patient care. Scientific and societal interest in risk assessment has increased over the past few years.
European projects are currently running to coordinate training of risk assessors (e.g. RISK ASSETs and TRISK) but these programmes focus on post-graduate training. Only a few of these initiatives have a focus on graduate training. And so far, Radboud University’s Biomedical Sciences programme with a Master’s specialisation in Human Health Risk Assessment (HRA), is one of the few programmes in Europe launched from a health perspective. (Other programmes are embedded in an environmental science or technological faculty.)
